What are the age recommendations for this course?
This course is for the whole family: kids, teens, and of course, moms! However, younger kids will need some supervision because abstract art can get a wee bit messy. 😉
Do I have to draw?
We are using a simple heart for the subject of each of the lessons, but none of them have to be perfect. In fact, I purposefully draw some fun, wonky hearts for my pieces.
What art supplies will we need for these lessons?
Here is a list of art supplies we will use. (Please feel free to substitute with what you have.)
- Watercolor paper, canvas, or old artwork you don’t love
- Acrylic craft paints (in your favorite vibrant colors)
- Paintbrushes
- Pencil
- Optional: Acrylic paint pens (white & metallic gold)
- Spray bottle of water
- Paper plate, paper towels, water jar
- Other items to gather from around the house: old gift card, skewers or chopstick, cotton swab, old toothbrush, bottle lids in various sizes, old jar lids, bubble wrap, shelf-liner, etc. (I'll show you how to used these items as art tools for mark-making, layering texture, and adding joy to your piece.)
